Hydrangea Colourscape acrylic painting by Bernadette Meyers

For years, I’ve been captivated by the intricate beauty of flowers, drawn to their delicate details and hidden worlds. I’ve spent countless hours capturing meditative images through my camera lens, uncovering tiny universes within petals. I’ve translated their essence into watercolour and pastel paintings. But this piece is special—it’s my first large acrylic painting inspired by a hydrangea.

These blooms hold a deep personal meaning for me. My mother-in-law grew the most stunning hydrangeas in shades of pink, violet, and soft green. I nurtured plants from cuttings taken from her garden, and year after year, they continue to bloom beautifully. Every time I paint them, I remember her with love.

Acrylic on stretched canvas 61 x 61cm ready to hang.
