After visiting the Australian Sea Lion colony at Seal Bay on Kangaroo Island recently, I fell in love with these endangered creatures. Spending time observing them coming back to the beach after being on a fishing trip and reuniting with others on the sand was wonderful to see. Pups playing or waiting for their Mums to return or suckling from their mothers was heartwarming.

A friend of mine had also been on holidays and swam with the sea lions on the west coast of South Australia. His photographs of these beauties underwater were stunning and he was more than happy to gve me permission to paint from one of his photos.

This is my pastel portrait of the sea lion playing with him underwater. Part proceeds of sales of my artwork are donated to various wildlife conservation groups to help save these endangered animals from extinction. This is a soft pastel painting dimensions are 39 x 29, framed in a white mat and white distressed frame ready to hang (Frame size 60.1H X 50.1W). Soft pastel is a pure pigment that will last for hundreds of years.
