I’ve had this reference in my ‘Paintings to do,’ list for ages. The original image was actually of a guy outdoors, in this pose, but once I started sketching it out, I decided a girl in party mode, was more what I was looking for. So, like many creative beginnings, this one took on it’s own journey. So much fun to paint, with lots of texture and glazed layers. Because she has a slightly melancholy facial expression, ‘It’s my party,’ seemed like the perfect title.
