Jethro by Mandy Jackson.

An original acrylic and mixed media painting – using beautiful handmade Japanese Washi paper and acrylic paint on stretched canvas.

I found and photographed Jethro as he wandered in the gardens at Abacrombie House in Bathurst, while I was on holidays. I love the confidence and class these pretty boys display.

I have fallen in love with the beauty, quality and texture of handmade Japanese Washi paper which is made from the fibers of either the Gampi Tree, Mulbury bush, Bamboo, Hemp, Rice or other natural materials. The Washi paper I have used as part of this painting has a brilliant and intense ink pattern with a gold metalic overlay which has been silk-screened by hand onto high quality Japanese handmade Yuzen paper – inspired by Kimono fabrics, but cloaking Jethro in splendor in this painting.

Sealed with a matt varnish and ready to hang on stretched canvas with D-rings and wire.
