I find them so mesmerising to watch, as they navigate their way through the water in such a frantically busy manner and I love to capture this on canvas. They are such a delightful subject to paint. In this painting, I have used multiple layers of coloured glazes, opaque paint and gold leaf embellishment. Sides painted, finished with 2 coats of protective varnish.
