Lifted by the Thermals Ltd Ed Print by Bernadette Meyers – Abstract Nature Photography Print

The wetland where I started this image is visually busy, but the lens reveals the gentle, peaceful atmosphere of the place and reminds me of the beautiful forest paintings of the German Expressionist, Franz Marc. He was a gentle-spirited man and often depicted animals in his paintings. They were always peaceful and the paintings have a feeling of quiet paradise.

I used a vintage Russian lens with the front element reversed and added macro extension tubes. This combination makes crisp focus impossible and I can travel to new worlds, feeling the essence of the leaves and the play of light.

This particular frame reminded me of the thermal currents in which birds are lifted. I added the birds which I had photographed on a different day.
