Stepping on Toes by Saren Dobkins

Two figures, appear to wrestle with the emotions that stand between them. The X is the part of the equation that connects them, unspecified and hard to grasp. Sometimes, the smallest thing can cause upset, hence the title, Stepping on Toes. The approach is both minimalist and expressive. The renderings of the figures as simplified and undefined which refers to the universality of relationships that can be explosive and passionate. The figures are painted in a deep Prussian Blue against a cadmium yellow background. Small green crosses are placed on the lower edge of the canvas. The work is striking and will definitely be a conversation piece. The work is at core, about the need we have to connect and find peace, within the battleground of our modern world.
