The Beach 2 by Darren King

One of the last things I made in 2021 was this small mixed media piece on canvas. Created using acrylic paint, gouache, silver foil and collage on stretched canvas. This artwork is signed on the back.

This piece was created using paint and collage. The artwork is based on a photo I took last year at a beach in the Illawarra called Perkins Beach. This artwork combines recycled magazine clippings torn, cut and assembled along with recycled pieces from my screen print work, to create a textured, heavily layered small one of a kind piece. Also on this piece are a few small print highlights containing a shiny metallic silver foil, which pops when looking at the work on an angle. Difficult to photograph but it’s more visible on the side pic as the light strikes it.

The piece is on stretched wooden frame. It has a wire at the back and is ready to hang. 2 coats of gloss varnish have also been applied to protect the artwork and the gloss finish really brings out all the intricate details in the work.

The edges are painted so it is ready for your wall. Thanks for checking it out, cheers Darren
