The Offering  was painted from a photograph of a Japanese Buddha statue.   This peaceful Buddha holds out a lotus flower – seemingly offering it up to the viewer. ‘The Offering’ was included as part of Now and Zen exhibition in Fremantle, Western Australia.  Now and Zen featured artwork with a Japanese theme – a subject matter close to the artists’ heart.

The multi layered nature of this artwork reveals tiny details and unique marks that add complexity to the image.   Many layers of brush strokes, mark making and stenciling are built up over time.
