Additional Information

The two figures are engaged in a dialogue which explores how we can engage with our world. The painting is about looking, and offers a playful exploration into whether we are oblivious to our being contained by our beliefs or others or free to explore our true nature.

The Visionary

I ventured into the studio last night. Played with an idea I wanted to explore which will try to show how intertwined we are. Or maybe its just me. I like to imagine how to embody wisdom. I have always been interested in those who ‘see’ beyond the mundane and inhabit the dream space where intuition and insight reside. My observer holds both spaces simultaneously. She sees  the multi faceted aspects of ourselves that appears separate to ourselves. At arms length, she sees a self that is trapped. The self who stays asleep in a transparent vessel, unaware they are contained. When we look at it from a different perspective, depicted as being upside down, we experience our nature. The world that is outside, the ‘real’ world, shows a solitary tree. It belongs in a forest, but it stands alone.
