Lovely orange-lichen covered rocks feature in this work that uses cold wax medium with oil paint and was created using palette knives rather than paint brushes. The wax medium-thickened paint is laid down with expressive sweeps of colour that are mixed on the surface of the panel are variously layered and scraped back to reveal underlying hues, and to create textural elements that suggest the craggy rocks, foliage and sky. This work was painted following a journey around Australia stopping every 100km and documenting the landscape through plein air paintings and drawings, photos and notes to aid the memory of various places that we visited.

A a warm honey coloured timber frame complements this expressive depiction of a landscape typical of south eastern Australian coastal regions.
