Cooling off in Monterosso, Cinque Terre by Eileen Rigby

Swimmers in the waters of Monterosso, Cinque Terre was the inspiration for this painting. It was a glorious day as we began our walk to Vernazza and I would have dearly loved to have joined the swimmers in the ocean but, our time was limited and we were determined to hike to at least one of the villages. By the time we reached Vernazza the temperature was 34 degrees centigrade. We were there only for two nights and the dip in the ocean was not to be. Many times I have looked at the photographs and wished that we had managed to have that swim but I guess I can almost imagine that the figure in this acrylic work was me.
