Additional Information

The boating lake in Villa Borguese Roma is a place that we tend to gravitate too. It has a wealth of subject matter for my paintings and that coupled with the sheer fun of actually rowing is reason enough for regular visits. I loved the natural model pose of the girl in this painting, her parasol and how her tanned skin contrasted beautifully with the boat. I loved the foreshortening and angle of her leg and the composition of tthe subject just worked in every way. I wanted a sense of freedom in the brushwork to complement the freedom of the subject. Water is always interesting – the colours, the ripples and reflections. Of course it is not just the image that pleases me but the memories that this painting evokes. These days in Rome were just magical and hold some very special memories. I hope that I am not the only one to find joy in this painting because I hope that it will transport you to another place. I use only Atelier professional paints and it comes with a certificate of authenticity.
