Kalahari Girl by Deb Farrimond – This stunning young lioness was moving towards us in the late afternoon sun while on safari in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, South Africa. Her golden glow was captivating and I could’nt wait to paint her beautiful face on our return to Australia. We observed the pride as they moved off of a kill and were seeking shade to relax and sleep off their full bellies. The colours reflecting from her coat were accentuated with the late rays of the setting sun. To observe and photograph the animals help to bring them to life on paper, giving them personality and a soul.
