Pied Currawong by Darren King

Inspired by the birds that hang out in our backyard in the Illawarra. This is a painting made entirely from recycled paper pieces and adhesive, zero paint. Paper elements are cut, torn and assembled to create this unique original artwork.

The background is made from printed copies of vintage music sheets, ‘Have I Told You Lately That I Love You’ and ‘You Are My Sunshine’. Other elements have been harvested from various discarded magazines, books, junk mail, maps and brochures. The layered paper along with the adhesive brings a nice textural quality to the work. Abstract colour and shapes combine up close, that come together a few steps back.

The piece is on stretched canvas. 2 coats of gloss varnish will be applied to protect the artwork. The gloss finish really makes the colours pop and gives the work a glassy finish. It has a wire at the back and the collage continues on the edges so it is ready for your walls, or you may wish to add a frame directly through Art Lovers during purchase.

Thanks for checking it out. Cheers Darren
