‘Tulips Just For You’ by Eileen Scrymgeour Rigby
From time to time I bring an armful of flowers into the studio and spend the day arranging them until I am satisfied with the end results. These still-lifes then pose for me as I complete thumbnail sketches for future paintings – it is such a happy, fun day. This still-life is an end product from all of that planning. My style leans towards Impressionism but with an aim to capture a lit quality with big brush strokes and the minimum of fussiness. Atelier paints are my choice of professional acrylics with the addition of several Matisse.
