Protea Bunch in a Jar – An original oil painting created in my Mountain studio in Olinda, Victoria, Australia

by Alicia Cornwell B.A. Fine Art Dip. Education. Fine Art

Part of a series where I am exploring flowers (native and introduced) that are grown commercially in the area where I live in the Yarra Ranges. I am particularly interested in the organic flow and turn of these more harsh florals and the bright colours they produce. This painting came about when I was gathering them to create a bouquet, I put them in a Vintage Fowlers Jar to keep them fresh and became interested in the reflections they created in the thick glass. And so a preparation became a final work…

Commonly thought to be native to Australia, they are in fact native to South Africa however like famous kiwi actors we are happy to claim as our own…

This original oil painting on stretched canvas comes to you in a Tasmanian Oak box frame ready to hang on your wall.

Pictures are representational, please check measurements against your wall.
