Reflections is an original painting by Sigrid Patterson.

Reflections shows a banksia cone in a beautiful vessel made by Bundjalung artist Kylie Caldwell. The markings represent weaving and this theme was strong in my mind as I painted and wove the story within. For me it represents the privilege that we have to learn from the Traditional Owners about cultural burning and other ways to care for the land, seas and air.

The painting extends over the canvas and on to the frame encouraging the viewer to think beyond the box about environmental issues.

This is part of my ‘vessels of distinction’ series.
