Roses and Cockscomb is a large, square format floral work in acrylic on deep sided stretched cotton duck, featuring roses, cockscomb and other smaller flowers. This work is unframed. The inspiration for this painting came from the beautiful roses from my garden and the unusual and unique cockscomb from the florist. I love the beauty of floral works and the power they have to bring joy to the viewer. Floral subjects also demand that the artist explore colour and texture combinations. I have sought to capture movement in this painting as well as the fragility and transient nature of blooms.
