Additional Information

Seven Mile Beach Gerroa – Overview – is a large sized work in square format. Painted in professional acrylics on deep sided artist quality, stretched cotton duck.

Painting technique

The painting features an abstracted, expressive image of the Gerroa seascape NSW. This work is unframed, with painted canvas sides, and is ready to hang. The colours feature cool blues with ochres, white. The paint was applied by brush using free, expressive and textured marks and strokes. Sometimes I even use my fingers to apply paint, to get as close as possible to the work, putting my DNA  into the painting. There is a lusciousness to applying paint with your hands.

Painting Inspiration

The inspiration for this painting comes from wandering the shore line at Gerroa, fossicking in rock pools. I love the ocean and only get there occasionally as I live in rural NSW, but used to live in Sydney. The south coast of NSW is my favourite part of NSW. I love painting the environment, both landscapes and seascapes. I wanted to capture the energy and vitality of the water movement, so used an expressive, abstracted style of painting to enable the viewer to immerse themselves in the scene and create their own experience.
