Shabby Circa and the Rose – An original oil painting created in my Mountain studio in Olinda, Victoria, Australia

Measuring 40.6cm (W) x 50.8cm (H) x 3.5cm (D) (unframed), this is an original oil painting on stretched canvas featuring a single soft pink rose in an Antique cream bottle.

My current works in oils are exploring my interest in Vintage and Antique fabrics sourced from my extensive range I have collected over many years.

Before moving to painting full time, I worked as an Antique dealer / Vintage merchant supplying beautiful items for interior design. As a result I have quite the collection of special pieces and am enjoying mixing their unique qualities as subject matter into my artwork.

To the back is my interpretation of a beautifully patterned Vintage inspired scrolly roses fabric in greens, blues and pinks.

My aim with this painting was to explore the “shabby chic” decorating movement in pastels and all things pretty and soft. The rose is used extensively within this so was my first choice to juxtapose against the shabby style background. The little bird is actually part of a vintage salt and pepper shaker set and I used it in the painting to ground the bottle to the fabric.

This painting comes with a Certificate of Authenticity with a professional wire hanger to the back ready for your wall.
